The Institute conducts Research into Post harvest handling and storage problems of Agricultural commodities and develop pilot scale postharvest handling equipment and storage structures. The results of research are disseminated through appropriate extension methods to improve competence and skills of farmers, agro-processors, produce handlers and inspectors

You can reach us through our website or locate any of our zonal offices which are present in the major agro-ecological zones of Nigeria. We have zonal offices in Lagos, Ibadan, Port Harcourt, Sapele, Kano, Maiduguri, apart from the Headquarters in Ilorin.

NSPRI was established in 1950 as West Africa Stored Products Research Unit (WASPRU) and on the attainment of independence in 1960 it became NSPRI.

No amount is required, only the land that would serve as site for the project is the only commitment on the part of the community.
Postharvest Agriculture is a subject of interest to Nigeria given the amount of wastages witnessed yearly, what have you been doing regarding this?
Several technologies have been developed and research is still going on to develop new ones to reduce postharvest losses. We participate in various local and National Agricultural shows in order to create awareness, we equally have adopted villages that serve as demonstration site for not only the dissemination of these technologies but to also elicit feedbacks that constantly engage our Scientists. We receive several Office calls, excursions and publications are distributed to create awareness.
