NSPRI Unveils Cutting-Edge AROC Postharvest Hub at Rivers State University

The delegation from the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) Food Safety for Africa Project team paid a courtesy visit to the Nigerian Stored Products Research Institute (NSPRI) on 29th May, 2025. The purpose of the visit was to foster collaboration on food safety awareness and research initiatives.

Led by Dr. Titilayo Falade, the Project Lead, the team visited the NSPRI Ibadan Zonal Office to explore potential areas of partnership in advancing food safety standards and postharvest management strategies. Accompanying Dr. Falade were key members of the delegation, including Mrs. Modupe Banwo and Mr. Kehinde Sanni.

During the visit, discussions centered on strengthening research efforts, knowledge-sharing, and the implementation of best practices for ensuring food safety across Nigeria and beyond. Both organizations expressed their commitment to working together towards improved food security and enhanced agricultural practices that prioritize consumer health.

This engagement marks a significant step in bridging the gap between food safety research and practical applications and reinforce the shared vision of both institutions in mitigating postharvest losses and ensuring the availability of safe and quality food products.
